Hyatt Suites

The Hyatt Suites project is a proposed 7- story high rise hotel located at 300 E. Second Steet in the scenic Truckee River Corridoor of downtown Reno. Venture Engineering provided site civil design services to the owner/developer in coordination with the architectural team managed by PK Architects out of Phoenix, Arizona. Demolition of the previously existing Nevada Inn Motel was required (Inn shown in attached aerial view). Two Fema Flood zones are applicable to the site; Shaded -X and AE. A raised porte-cochere design was proposed as a solution to having stairs at the hotel lobby entrance resulting from the floor of the hotel being raised above the flood elevation of the river. In addition, the site is elevated above the river by an existing flood wall which requires reconstruction and all work withing the banks of the Truckee River required Corps of Engineers Approval. Although a building permit was obtained, Construction of the Hotel is on hold.
